Terms of Service
Unity-affiliated permanent funds that have registered by September 9 and who have been approved by Unity Foundation of La Porte County (Unity) may compete for matching funds and prizes during the Give Day.
Unity has raised a pool of matching dollars. These will be allocated to all participating funds based on the proportion of funds raised. No one fund or entity can get more than 20% of the matching pool.
The minimum gift is $10. There is no maximum per gift, nor maximum per fund or entity. Donors are encouraged to make gifts to one or more funds of their choice. Each gift of $10 or more to a different fund will be counted on the Give Day Leaderboard.
Donations by credit card or debit card can be made through the La Porte County Gives online portal during the 30-hour Give Day. Donations by check or cash (and grants from Donor Advised Funds) will be accepted at Unity’s office from Wednesday, September 14 until Thursday, September 29 at noon Central Time. Checks must have the fund name written on the memo line. Checks, cash, and DAF grants received after the deadline will go to the desired fund but will not be counted toward the Leaderboard or special prizes. Donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable. All donations will be granted for use by the participating funds in accordance with their fund agreements.
The Leave A Legacy Campaign runs from March 1 to September 23, 2022. The top four funds that submit the most verified planned gifts to Unity will split $11,000: $5,000 for 1st place, $3,000 for 2nd Place, $2,000 for 3rd Place and $1,000 for 4th place.
If two organizations tie for any of the special prizes or Leave a Legacy Campaign prizes, the system will deploy a randomizer to choose a single winner.
Unity's 30th Anniversary Gala will be held Saturday, October 1, to coincide with the final hours of Give Day. Attendance at the Gala is not required to participate or win prizes.
Funds raised will be allocated 50-50 between fund principal and spendable and will be placed in the fund within 30 days of Give Day. Fund representatives may choose how special prizes are allocated. Disbursements from the spendable portions of the fund will be made in accordance with the underlying Fund Agreement or upon contacting Unity. All online gifts will be charged processing fees to cover the platform infrastructure and credit card processing fees. Donations go to the designated fund net of processing fees and a onetime $100 participation fee. All gifts will be receipted by Unity. Receipts for online gifts will be issued via email through the platform. Receipts for offline gifts will be issued by Unity. Organizations will have access to provided donor information by logging into their account on Give Gab. Organizations are encouraged to thank donors through their usual stewardship methods but not include language that refers to tax deductions.
Unity will, at its discretion, promote La Porte County Gives through its media partners, websites and social media. Participating funds are encouraged to attend the offered virtual webinars or watch the recordings. Each fund will be entitled to a donation page on laportecountygives.net. The participating fund is responsible for populating its donation page. Further, the participating fund should promote the event to its donors through methods of its choosing and may take advantage of the Give Day promotional and marketing materials that are made available. Social media posts should include #laportecountygives.
Participating funds agree to receive electronic communications from Unity.
Participating funds agree that their profile may be removed from laportecountygives.net upon failure to comply with this agreement.
